re-tah go!

that is "liamese" for "Ready to go!" or "Ready to go?"

which he IS... in these pics.

he cracks me up. yesterday he says "re-tah go" then picked up my keys and his lunch bag... and walked to the front door. He carried that lunch bag over his shoulder (like i do my purse)... and clenched onto those keys.
Hmmm... wonder if he has seen me grab keys/purse and say "Liam - are you ready to go" a time or two????

how could i not be "re-tah-go?" with a camera?

HAPPY FRIDAY!

wild animal show

Liam's friend Tye invited him to come and see a wild animal show over the weekend. They got to see two owls, hawks, a ferret, a skunk, a possum, bobcat and more. The kids liked the show - but I think they had more fun playing outside after the show!

Are these two of the cutest little guys you have ever seen? Both of their mommies are very surprised that neither of them were chosen in the baby gap contest!

Happy 18 months Liam!

Wow – a year and a half, that is wild. You are a little sponge. You are listening to everything, and understanding a lot of what you hear these days. This can be VERY helpful.. when I say things like “Liam, can you please put this in the trash”… you march right over to the trash and throw it away…. OTHER TIMES – your sponge-like qualities are a little annoying… like when Ace is being a bad dog, and I say (rather YELL) something like “ACE, NO – BAD DOG”…. Then we go about our business….Then about 45 minutes later I hear you shout “ACE NO ACE NO ACE NO…. BAD DAHHHH”… poor Ace-Face, he is NOT getting a break these days!
Your vocabulary is blowing up… (although I may be the only person on the earth that slightly understands what you are saying) you still speak “Liamese”… and tend to say only the last part of two syllable words… for instance, most children might say “OUT” for outside…. You say “SIDE”… most children might say “UP” for “upstairs”…. You say “STAIRS”
You are strong… and you think you are stronger than you are. You try to pick up and move everything – even things that are way bigger than you are, and you are also a little monkey – you love to climb. ON EVERYTHING, and you have gotten increasingly brave.
We have been looking at preschools this month, and I can’t believe it. Weren’t you just born? So far we have visited three preschools, and have 3 more on the docket for next week. Some that take children as young as 18 months! Some won’t accept you until you are 2… some you have to be 2 years and 9 months?!?! This preschool hunt process is a lot like the college application process, and who would have thought that a year of education for as 2 year old would rival the cost of a first year city college student? We just want you to be in a place where you are around other (nice) kids, where you are loved, well taken care of and encouraged to be the amazing little man who you are.
Happy year and a half.Love, your mama.

flip friday - recipe for laughter

a little flip video to start the weekend off with a giggle.

take equal parts bathtub, water, bubble bath, toddler, border collie and bubble solution.
(note, i messed up the recipe featured in the video by adding TWO parts border collie which resulted in the obnoxious barking in the background... next time... we'll know better!)

mix together for uncontollable laughter and abundant joy.

shoe fetish

I had a hard time deciding on a title for this post.
it was between:
- shoe fetish
- the man with one black shoe
- i can do it myself!!!

i decided on "shoe fetish" because i used to have one. in fact, my dad used to call me "Imelda" as in Marcos. Shortly after I moved to California, i once purged over 40 pair of shoes. The next purge was in the 20's... now, the obsession is in check - in fact, i am embarassingly WAY behind in shoe fashion. would you believe I don't even own one pair of Tory Burch flats... am I the last person on the face of the earth who is a hold out? i digress....

tonight, we had a funny little thing happen.
I was in the middle of changing a diaper when i realized that my diaper stock needed to be replenished, and the new box needed to be opened. as i stepped away to grab and open the new box, liam decided that he NEEDED his shoes on, and he NEEDED to put them on himself.

here is how it went down.

yes, you are correct, NO diaper... one shoe in the process of being put on.
(don't you want to come and sit on my carpet now?!?)

almost there.

sweet sweet victory.
