the new neighbors babies...

About two months ago, we got some new neighbors! A lovely couple of red-tailed hawks build their new home in a tree right outside of our kitchen window. They spent weeks collecting the perfect twigs and branches, and when they had completed their dream home, they moved in and began "nesting" LITERALLY! A week or two ago, their first little one arrived, shortly after that, the second baby made an appearance, we noticed # 3 this morning. Heather let us borrow her camera and ridiculous lens so that we could send a proper announcement of these precious creatures out to our peeps. They have been so much fun to watch. I can't wait until they start learning how to fly. I read that they do "practice circles" around their nest for weeks before they are pushed out into the world - that will be really amazing. I also read that hawks mate for life, and once they find a good spot for a nest, they come back year after year. This will be a fun tradition for Liam to experience in the spring time each year. I pray they do come back!

Surf's Up - Happy 8 months!

Happy 8 months cutie :)

Remember last month when I said it was the best month yet - well, i take it back (AGAIN) because THIS month is the best yet!
Lots of firsts! Your first Easter and Dodger opening day game (Two BIGGIES) and you did great at both!

You are still crawling backwards, so fast in fact that you had a little fall off the bed this month. You landed on your feet, but ever since the fall you haven't been wanting to put any weight on your right leg. We took you to the Dr. on Friday, he ordered X-rays, so - you also got your first real X-rays this month ... i hadn't seen pictures of your bones since you were in my belly! Even your bones are cute, and more importantly - in tact.. no fractures! You probably are just a little sore. We promise we will be more careful and never let that happen again.
One more thing - that ISN'T a first... and just as NOT fun as a sore leg... you have ANOTHER ear infection. This is number THREE. I guess you are going to be one of those kids... THOSE kids... the ones where a sniffle becomes an ear infection. It is so hard to tell the difference between "teething" and "ear infection"... especially when you have both going on. We are getting better at identifying.. thank goodness for Gail (your wonderful daycare provider) who helps us out with those things, and takes great care of you - even when you aren't feeling well.
Your top two teeth are coming in now, they are hard to see, and you don't like me looking in your mouth. The bottom two are growing and your little bottom-toothy smile is priceless.
You are vocal, happy, and a total flirt. I have a feeling you are definitely going to be a ladies man. You had all the women at the dr's office swooning over you, you get a lot of attention and you just eat it up - you eat it up the way I want to eat you up every day! I just love your baby toes and your chubby baby legs and your soft baby cheeks. I take lots of bites every day, and you giggle, and giggle, and sometimes absolutely crack up - I know it wont last forever and I hope i never forget the precious sound of your giggles and your baby squeals... i think these are my most favorite sounds in the world.

Gramma-linkey bought you this Surfs Up outfit before she even met you... I think she did a pretty good job, because you look cute in it :) And she got the size/season right! It was 100 degrees yesterday, and will be in the 90s today. We took these pics before daycare this morning.

I couldn't have set this one up. Yesterda, you CRASHED OUT - right into your bunny. First ON your bunny, then somehow you moved - but ended up in the exact same position as your bunny. You are CLASSIC!

opening day - 11-1

It's been our (Kurt and I)tradition that we go to Opening Day at Dodger Stadium every year. This is now the 7th year in a row that we have gone now! Liam went last year with us (in utero).. this year was so much better (1) because little Lima Bean got to see the game and (2) because i could enjoy a cold refreshing beer on a Monday afternoon - oh, and the Dodgers took the Giants 11-1. How you like them apples!?!
GAME DAY!!

It's DODGER TIME! (Kurt surprised us with Dodger watches the morning of the game - what a nice daddy)

With Gramma Arlene

Hats off for the National Anthem

... and he's OUUUUT (before the 7th inning stretch!)

know anyone who wants to buy a sleepy dodger baby?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had such a fun and festive Easter day with Liam. After a forecast of rain, the sun came out it was a perfect day for a very first Easter! We took so many pictures that I will post some today and more later this week.
We started the day at church, Liam did great, but is starting to be a lot more wiggly during service, and he took a little nap on daddy. After church we went to an Easter Brunch with Grandma Arlene, Great Grandpa Finkebrink and Bob.

BUT FIRST - we prepared for our visit from the Easter Bunny...

We colored eggs!

(What you aren't seeing, is that we got the STAR WARS dye kit and Kurt made some kind of a star car thing... i know he will kill me because i don't know the name of it - maybe we'll get a photo later.)

We baked cookies!

We decorated cookies!

...and he came! The Easter Bunny came to our house, and look what he left! We also got visits from the EAST COAST bunny (thanks Eastside) and from the Oregon Easter Bunny - (thanks Northwest!)

Liam's First Easter Basket (my childhood easter basket)

There was a balloon animal lady at brunch. Liam was REALLY entertained by her. She made him a green sword.

There were bunnies.

...and baby ducks

big day - Easter crash!
....more to come.

a nice day...

...for a picnic in the front yard.
Daddy made sandwiches and we all had a little lunch in the front yard in the shade under the tree. Even the dogs joined us :) a great family Sunday!
Liam is teething BIG TIME this weekend. As you can see he is putting EVERYTHING in his mouth.

yes... thats Elmo's DOOR - must be tasty~

another thing in the mouth!
i

yumm - daddys shorts.

with a second course of sunglasses.

and if we couldn't have guessed he was teething with all of the jamming everything in his mouth - we would know because of the droolathon going on nonstop!

slippery little sucker

Liam takes his first big boy shower w/ daddy! Daddy says "wet babies are slippery"! No, he didn't drop him, but I think he was scared he was going to. They had fun!
