oregon day 2 lots of friends!

So far we have had LOTS of fun in Oregon and got to meet and see lots of friends. Today Liam got to meet his Great Grandma Sara for the very first time! Grandma Sara is my Dad's mom - and she is originally from Puerto Rico - she was amazed w/ Liam's Blonde Hair and Blue eyes. She was REALLY happy to get to meet him. Last time we visited she had been sick and did not get the chance to spend time with him.

Happy Great Grandma Sara and Liam

with Dad too.
We also got to have lunch w/ pals Josh, Kerry and their son Grant. Grant is about a year older than Liam, and such a good and adorable boy!

We went into the city to see "auntie Tonya" who came down from Seattle! She is the best - she brought that cute hat for Lima Bean, and a sweet outfit to go with it... can't wait to wear it all together!

Mini was also able to meet up with us :) that was an extra special treat.

Liam loves his aunties!

Welcome to Oregon

Liam made his second trip on an airplane yesterday! He did great - although he is now an entirely different boy... and I mean BOY. He didn't sleep a wink, was a wiggle worm, and flirted w/ the lady behind us. All in all though, he did great AND he got to meet his cousin Lucas for the first time!!

We were greeted in Oregon at my parents house by one lonely little pansy growing out of a crack int he concrete!

Isn't it cute??

Here is Liam, Lucas and my parents - comparing their feet! (Lucas is almost exactly one month older than Liam.) Looks like gramma and gramps have their hands full with these two!

They both like fish!

Liam is happy to have a pal.

Sharing is fun!

Dinnah time :)

Play time.

Random video - there are DEER here... and they just had babies!
We missed a lot of the frolicking... but here is one cute baby playing. Hopefully we will get some better footage to share this week...

GREAT Grandpa turns 102!!!

Kurts Grandpa is 102!!! He was born 07/07/07... and turned 100 on 07/07/07!!! So - we think he is one lucky guy, and we are lucky to have him in our lives.
He lived on his own just up until he turned 100, and still has a great sense of humor - and LOVES his great grandson :)
We have been trying for the past 3 years to get him on the Today show - the segment where Willard Scott wishes the centinarians (sp) a Happy Bday... MARK YOUR CALENDARS... it is FINALLY happening this year! He will be on next Wednesday July 15th between 8:30 and 9:30! It only took 102 years for his National Television debut, and he is SO excited!

Menslage East sent GGpa this awesome edible arrangement - can you see the "102" made out of pineapple?? so cool!
Liam liked the tags and cards.

His bday spread - including some "bubbly"! Arlene did a great job picking out a delicious chocolate cake that we all enjoyed. Mmmmm

Liam, you have to wait about 6 more weeks for your own bday cake!

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July!
We had a really fun weekend. It was pretty cool that it fell on a Saturday this year, so we had a nice long weekend!

We kicked off 4th of July morning in Westlake Village for a parade. We met up with our friends Mike, Henny and Tye at the park where the parade ended. It was a TOTAL small town / hometown situation which was fun and rustic. The parade consisted of kids, pets, parents, strollers, decorated bikes, trikes and wagons! I didn't know that kind of a thing still existed! Next year we will walk in the parade and decorate Liams wagon for the trek! We forgot our camera... thanks Henny for snapping some pics for us!

there were horses in the parade - Liam got to pet them!
The biggest attraction was the firetruck.. notice the people riding on the firetruck? They are a good indicator of the parade crowd.

Checking out the firetruck up close!

Liam and his buddy Tye! Notice how smiley Tye is - and how pouty Liam is?

The toothy grin came out w/ Dad's shades!

Fast forward to the evening of Jul 4. Kurt and I went to a party at The Kenman's house, and Gramma M. came to babysit! They are SO patriotic!!

Liam is a GREAT flag waver!

this doesn't look safe...

He was in the pool all weekend! Here he is showing off his skills for his Great Grandpa. (We celebrated Grandpa's 102 bday w/ a bbq on Sunday)

Yes... it is JUST water in Grammas wine glass!

Did you know sunscreen doubles as baby hair product???

Father's Day 2009

Kurts first Father's Day was awesome! We started the day off by going to church, and it was a great service. After that we picked up Kurts Grandpa (who is 101 years old - turning 102 July 7th!!) and Kurts mom - and we took a drive to Malibu to have brunch at Moonshadows. Yes, this is the restaurant you saw Mel Gibson get oblitherated at prior to picking up his infamous DUI on the PCH! (Mel was nowhere to be found!)
After brunch Kurt went over to help his mom out with a few things at her house, help her w/ a dead car battery and spend some time with her - then he came home and we went to a local park with our friends Mike, Henny and Tye - to see some live music. Kurt scored on gifts! He got some really awesome framed photos of Lima Bean AND a Drill (the drill was kind of a joke gift.. but he needed one!) His mom got him those cool speakers that look like rocks. (way to go Best Buy... the commercials worked!)
The day in photos below:
Liams ocean front highchair - he did a great job eating out!

He is a bit distracted by the awesomeness of the ocean... can you blame him??

The whole gang - what a view - right!?! too bad it was REALLY hard to get a decent shot.

Much easier to get a nice shot outside. (Thanks valet guy!)

On to the PARK - we all had such a fun time, and Liam as it turns out LOVES live music - it brought out the booty-shaker in him!

Liam and Daddy!

Cute boys!

Liam has the whole world.... in his hands!

Daddy has the whole world... in his hands!

Happy 10 months Lima Bean

Double Digits.
Two High Fives.
Big One-OH!

No matter how you say it – you are ten months spectacular!
This past months has been so cool.. you are coming into your own in a big way.
You make friends easily – you even help Mommy to make friends – thanks kidd-o!
You are a SUPER fast crawler, you pull up and are cruising on everything. You are becoming one independent little boy. You are a WIGGLE WORM when we try to change you... you never sit still, not for a minute, and you are always on the go. If you don’t walk in the next month I will be surprised. But if you don’t – that is perfectly ok… do not grow up too fast please! I want to savor baby Liam as long as possible.

This month you went to some bday parties, had a visit from G-link, hosted a pool party, enjoyed being the center of attention when your “aunties” came to see you, and became a super-swimmer! Hmmm... are you a PARTY ANIMAL ALREADY???

Liam you are a joy plain and simple. Your smile is contagious, and your laugh could bring in millions if we were able to bottle it up. I think I have mentioned this before, but you are a clown, and the more you grow into your personality, the more I see it. You love hide and seek, you love being read to – and you even are starting to have favorite books. (right now, it’s the monster book and the noisy farm/noisy pals books). You are a performer and you love to be the center of attention (which of course in our little world, you are.) You make your puppy Ace very jealous, and a bit neurotic. I think though, in a few years you will be best of pals.

You have been struggling with teething in a big way. You don’t complain much, but I can tell you are uncomfortable. You have a runny nose – and this has gone on for weeks. The Dr. says it is due to teething… I am beginning to wonder if you suffer from allergies. I really hope you are not allergic to your pups. There are 2 cats at daycare – they also could be the culprit… or maybe plain old dust. Who knows? We won't – at least until you are old enough for allergy tests.

You are a talker! Na na na nana , Ma m ama ma mama , Da da da da da da doh, Go Go Go Goooo Goo Gah, Dog. These are your faves.

Where has the time gone? You are not a teeny beanie any more… which makes me a little sad – but I love the bean machine you are.
Happy 10 months sugar bean

On the morning of your 10 month bday, you saw your beloved wagon outside, and really want to get to it!

A sample reading from the Monster Book (your first choice in books). Usually you don't cry when the last monster tries to kiss you... you actually kiss back.. but - what can i say, this time - you wanted nothing to do with kissing.
(can we say INDEPENDENT???)

Kerry, Kari, Carey

Remember that early 90's band "Tony"Toni!Tone!"? You know.. they sang that song "It never rains in Southern California"? So... we are the modern day equivalent to them... except - we are: "Kerry, Kari, Carey" (otherwise known as "Moyer, Grande, and Mini"... and when we get together it actually DOES rain in Southern California - I blame that on Kerry and Carey who must have brought the rain from Oregon down with them when they visited the weekend before last. The good news is that it only rained one day, and we made the best of it!

I picked the ladies up early Saturday morning at LAX - and brought the makings for Mimosa's (i think you can see on the clock it reads 8:59.. that is A.M.!) we don't mess around. Mini played bartender and made us a drink to enjoy while we walked down the Malibu boardwalk where we enjoyed a great breakfast w/ a killer view of the ocean! (i guess we didn't get a pic w/ my camera of the restaurant /boardwalk??)

Remember in the last post where I mentioned there was wine involved? Here is proof. We went to the Malibu Estates Winery to check out some Music on Saturday night - yes, when we realized that we were singing"Brown-eyed girl.. sha la la la la la la la la la la dee dah" at the top of our lungs... it was time to go.

Moyer looking glam and Fab.

Kerry (Moyer)'s bday was the Monday before the girls came to visit - we celebrated with a BBQ on the Sunday that they were here. Kurt played like Bobby Flay and was Grillin and Chillin. (Remember the Laker Win? this was the same night... AND the reason he is in a great mood!)

There was a pretty sunset on Sunday night as well. I am so proud of us that none of us has a drink in our hand! Way to go girls!

Moyer posing for Mini's camera while I stole a shot of her and her spectacular bday cupcakes. No, i didn't make them - but ordered them from the Malibu Kitchen. (And more proof that wine was involved)

The girls left on Monday - but not before we had a chance to enjoy the spa at the Four Seasons Westlake Village. Just one word describes the experience "paradise". Mini said "can we do this once a week?"... two words for you Mini... "I WISH"!
3 observations about this photo:
1) Moyer and I are both wearing our old maternity swim suit cover ups! that was a funny conversation.
2) notice that we still have on our spa slippers - nice.
3) It becomes rather apparent in this shot which one is "mini"!
